Who would have thought that a kindly hospital porter, an article about women who ran businesses from their sheds, and my husband banning me from buying more material would lead to a business? Patch’s story is a complicated one, but ultimately it was ‘born’ from my desire to set up my own business to fit in with busy family life.
Hitting on an idea
As luck would have it, that article led me to re-kindle my childhood passion for sewing. But after the extravagances of Christmas 2012 my passion was almost cut short, as my husband banned me from buying any more expensive material. Disaster for the sewing addict I had become!
The birth of Patch
Whilst searching around for something else to sew, my one-year-old daughter was outgrowing her beautiful clothes. These gorgeous fabrics, and the memories they held, found their way into my fabric collages and cushions. I haven’t bought another piece of material since! Friends began to ask me to craft memories from their children’s clothes, and from that Patch was born.
Growth & change
Clothes hold powerful emotions, and bring back memories of so many important moments in our lives. They awaken tears of joy and happiness, memories of times gone by, and emotions long forgotten. Crafting quilts and cushions from precious memories allows me to help people re-connect with times gone by, and create beautiful keepsakes for them to treasure and share.
The next chapter
This is the story so far, and who knows what the next chapters will bring? I look forward to weaving your memories into Patch’s story, but make sure you have your tissues at the ready! Together we’ll spend time on a journey to unearth your hidden treasures, re-discover long-forgotten memories and re-connect with precious times, people and places.
